Here’s how it works

WHAT: Our primary goal is the refreshment of the spirit with this in-person International Baroque Academy (IBA) for players of Baroque oboe, Baroque bassoon and harpsichord. Situated in central Europe, the Landesmusikakademie and Hallenburg Palace are in the quiet German countryside. Our academy has three main points of focus:

  • ensemble work: chamber music, Baroque band and important orchestral repertoire
  • reed making skill development and strategies (winds) /tuning and instrument care and maintenance (keys)
  • Baroque dance instruction and its application in performance

We will hold this seminar at 415Hz. You are welcome to bring your 392Hz – 442Hz instruments for reed support and 1 on 1 coaching sessions. We cover all aspects of reed making from the tube to the finished reed, with and without machines.

While we will cover specific works in the repertoire (including important orchestral works), we hope you will also bring your own literature.

LANGUAGE: The course is primarily in English. German, Italian, Dutch and Spanish also spoken.

FOR WHOM: This academy is optimal for professional, aspiring and amateur musicians who want to increase their freedom, ease, agility, and achieve intense musical expression with historically informed performance practice on Baroque instruments.

If you are new to Baroque instruments or in need of an instrument, contact us at jk@jeaninekrause.com so we can determine if we can meet your personal needs in the scope of this retreat.
