Here’s how it works

WHAT: Our primary goal is the refreshment of the spirit with this in-person International Retreat for Baroque Oboists and Bassoonists. Situated in central Europe, the Landesmusikakademie and Hallenburg Palace sit in the quiet German countryside. Our retreat has three main points of focus:

  • ensemble work: chamber music, Baroque band and important orchestral literature for Baroque double reeds
  • reed making skill development and strategies
  • Baroque dance instruction and its application in performance

We will hold this seminar at 415Hz. You are welcome to bring your 392Hz – 442Hz instruments for reed support and 1 on 1 coaching sessions. We cover all aspects of reed making from the tube to the finished reed, with and without machines.

While we will cover specific works in the repertoire (including important orchestral works), we hope you will also bring your own literature.

LANGUAGE: English and German spoken

FOR WHOM: This retreat is optimal for professional, aspiring and amateur oboists who want to increase their freedom, ease, agility, and achieve intense musical expression with historically informed performance practice on Baroque double reeds.

If you are new to Baroque instruments or in need of an instrument, contact us at jk@jeaninekrause.com so we can determine if we can meet your personal needs in the scope of this retreat.
